Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. (Proverbs 21:3)

In marriage, it can be easy to get caught up in the daily grind and to neglect the things that truly matter. We might focus on our own needs and desires, rather than seeking to serve and love our spouse. However, Proverbs 21:3 reminds us that doing righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

This verse speaks to the importance of living a righteous and just life, rather than simply performing religious rituals or offering sacrifices. In the context of marriage, this might mean seeking to act in ways that are fair and right towards our spouse. It might mean being understanding and patient, even when they are not acting in ways that we would like.

It also means seeking to live a just and fair life in all areas of our lives. This might involve being honest and straightforward in our dealings with others, and seeking to do what is right, even when it is difficult or inconvenient.

So the next time you are feeling overwhelmed or unsure in your marriage, remember Proverbs 21:3 and the importance of living a righteous and just life. Seek to act in ways that are fair and right towards your spouse, and strive to live a just and fair life in all areas of your life. In doing so, you will be pleasing to the Lord and will be laying a strong foundation for your marriage.
