Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

Whoever leads the upright along an evil path will fall into their own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance. (Proverbs 28:10 NIV

In this verse, the writer of Proverbs is emphasizing the importance of integrity - being honest, sincere, and true to one’s word. He reminds us that those who mislead others into doing wrong will ultimately fall into their own pit of trouble, while those who are blameless will be rewarded.

But how does this apply to marriage?

In marriage, it’s important to be honest and sincere with your spouse. This means being transparent about your thoughts, feelings, and actions. It means being true to your word and following through on your commitments.

When we are honest and sincere with our spouse, we build trust and respect in our relationship. We show that we value their feelings and needs, and that we are willing to be open and vulnerable with them.

On the other hand, when we lack integrity in our marriage, we risk damaging our relationship. We might lie or deceive our spouse, or we might make promises that we don’t follow through on. This can lead to mistrust, hurt, and resentment.

So let us strive to cultivate integrity in our marriage. Let us be honest and sincere with our spouse, building trust and respect in our relationship. And let us remember that when we are blameless, we will be rewarded with a goodly inheritance.
