Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. (Proverbs 16:21)

In this verse, Solomon reminds us that the wise in heart will be called understanding, and that sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. This principle can also be applied to our marriages, as we seek to communicate with kindness and respect.

The power of kind words in marriage cannot be overstated. Words have the ability to build up or tear down, to encourage or discourage, to heal or to wound. When we speak to our spouse with kindness and respect, we are demonstrating our love and commitment to them, and we are creating a positive and loving atmosphere in our relationship.

On the other hand, when we speak to our spouse with harsh or hurtful words, we are damaging our relationship and creating an atmosphere of conflict and negativity. It is important to be mindful of the words that we speak to our spouse, and to strive to communicate with kindness and respect, even when we are feeling frustrated or hurt.

As you and your spouse seek to communicate with each other in your marriage, remember the power of kind words. Speak to your spouse with kindness and respect, and strive to create a positive and loving atmosphere in your relationship. When we communicate with sweetness of speech, we increase the persuasiveness of our words and create a stronger and more loving bond with our spouse.

This is an ongoing labor of love because these marriage devotionals will never be finished, but we have to start somewhere, so we will update often. We appreciate your support and prayers because this is a work of God not us. And please forgive us because we have never found a verse that doesn’t apply to marriage somehow.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Proverbs 30:5)

Going beyond marriage devotionals

  • Biblical relationship checkup – This Biblical relationship checkup helps couples find where they are on God’s map of a successful marriage and find direction for improvement
  • Help for hurting marriages – When I am weak, then I am strong. Help for hurting marriages is found in the wisdom of these Bible scriptures. Apply them as often as needed.
