Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8)

One of the most common sources of conflict in marriage is financial debt. When we have outstanding debts, it can put a strain on our marriage and our relationship with our spouse. But, as Christians, we are called to a higher standard when it comes to debt.

According to Romans 13:8, we are to “owe no one anything.” This means that we should do our best to pay off any debts that we have as soon as possible. When we are free from debt, we are able to focus on loving and serving God and others, rather than being weighed down by financial obligations.

Of course, it is not always easy to pay off debt, and it may take time and hard work. But, when we work together as a team and prioritize paying off our debts, it can bring a sense of freedom and unity to our marriage.

So, if you and your spouse are currently carrying debt, make a plan to pay it off as soon as possible. Remember, the only “debt” that we should have is the “continuing debt to love one another.” When we prioritize loving and serving each other, we will be able to experience a deeper level of love and connection in our marriage.

Prayer

Dear God, help us to pay off any debts that we have as soon as possible. Help us to work together as a team and to prioritize loving and serving each other. We pray for freedom and unity in our marriage as we seek to fulfill the “continuing debt to love one another.” Amen.
