These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)
This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men; (Titus 3:8)
In this verse, Paul reminds us that as believers, we should be careful to maintain good works. This includes not only the good works that we do for others, but also the good works that we do within our marriages.
Maintaining good works in marriage means actively seeking to cultivate a healthy and loving relationship with our spouse. It means showing love, respect, and kindness towards them on a daily basis, and seeking to serve and support them in their needs and goals. It also means working to resolve conflicts in a peaceful and respectful manner, and seeking to grow and learn together as a couple.
Maintaining good works in our marriages also involves being proactive in caring for the health and well-being of our relationships. This may include setting aside time for regular date nights, or making an effort to communicate openly and honestly with each other. It may also involve seeking help and guidance from trusted friends, family members, or a counselor when needed.
As you and your spouse seek to maintain good works in your marriage, remember to be proactive in cultivating a healthy and loving relationship. Show love and respect towards each other, and seek to serve and support each other in your needs and goals. Work to resolve conflicts in a peaceful and respectful manner, and be proactive in caring for the health and well-being of your relationship.
