Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16a)

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. (Romans 1:16 NLT

The Greek word for “power” in this verse is “dunamis,” which means “miraculous power, strength, or ability.” This verse emphasizes the power of the gospel, or the good news of Jesus Christ, to bring salvation to all who believe.

Here are five ways to live in the power of God in your marriage:

  1. Put your faith in Jesus Christ: The power of God is made available to us through faith in Jesus Christ, so putting your faith in Him is the first step to living in the power of God.

  2. Pray together: Spending time in prayer together as a couple is a powerful way to seek God’s guidance and to draw on His power in your marriage.

  3. Read the Bible together: Studying the Bible together as a couple is a great way to deepen your understanding of God’s word and to live in the power of His truth.

  4. Serve others together: Serving others as a couple is a powerful way to demonstrate God’s love and to live in His power.

  5. Love one another: Love is a powerful force, and expressing love towards your spouse is a powerful way to live in the power of God in your marriage.

Examples from the Bible of people living in the power of God include the apostles, who performed miracles and spread the gospel with great power, and Jesus himself, who lived a life of perfect obedience to God’s will.

In conclusion, living in the power of God in your marriage requires putting your faith in Jesus Christ, seeking His guidance in prayer, studying His word, serving others, and expressing love towards your spouse. By living in the power of God, you can have a strong and healthy marriage that brings glory to Him.
