These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
Jesus is always there for us, offering us the rest and peace we need. It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and the challenges of marriage, but this verse reminds us that we don’t have to do it alone.
One way to put this verse into practice in marriage is to make time for rest and relaxation. It’s important to take breaks and care for ourselves, both physically and emotionally. This can involve taking time for self-care activities like exercise, meditation, or hobbies that bring us joy.
Another way to apply this verse in marriage is to bring our burdens to Jesus in prayer. When we feel overwhelmed or anxious, we can turn to Jesus and lay our burdens at his feet. He is ready and willing to carry them for us and give us the peace and rest we need.
Overall, Matthew 11:28 is a reminder that Jesus is always there for us, offering us rest and peace in the midst of the busyness of life and the challenges of marriage. By turning to him and trusting in his love and care, we can find the rest and refreshment we need.
