Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. (1 Timothy 4:8)

In this verse, the apostle Paul is encouraging Timothy to focus on godliness and to avoid false teachings that are of no value. He compares physical training, which is good and has some benefits, to godliness, which is even more valuable because it has eternal consequences.

As we apply this to our marriages, we can see the importance of cultivating a relationship that is grounded in sound doctrine. This means having a shared understanding of what it means to follow Jesus and living out our faith in our daily lives. It also means being proactive in seeking out biblical teaching and applying it to our marriage.

But why is this so important? Because a marriage that is founded on godliness and sound doctrine will be able to weather any storm. It will be rooted in something that is not of this world, but rather eternal and unchanging. When we face challenges and struggles in our marriage, we can turn to the truth of God’s word for guidance and strength.

So let us prioritize godliness and sound doctrine in our marriage. Let us seek out biblical teaching and apply it to our relationship. And let us trust in the Lord to help us cultivate a marriage that is rooted in His truth and love.

This is an ongoing labor of love because these marriage devotionals will never be finished, but we have to start somewhere, so we will update often. We appreciate your support and prayers because this is a work of God not us. And please forgive us because we have never found a verse that doesn’t apply to marriage somehow.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Proverbs 30:5)
