These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)
Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control. (1 Corinthians 7:5 WEB
Good sex is a blessing of marriage. Good sex is the result of a good marriage. Good sex starts way before the bedroom. It starts with a loving environment. It starts with a loving attitude. And it starts with loving attention.
Good sex is not the goal of marriage. If you are focussing on sex. If you are struggling with sex. If you are unhappy with sex. The problem is almost never in the bedroom.
And let’s just get this out of the way. There is no such thing as make-up sex. That is a Hollywood movie invention. It doesn’t happen in real life.
Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman. But, because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband give his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife her husband. The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control. (1 Corinthians 7:1-5 WEB
