Daily marriage devotionals for growing godly marriages

Daily marriage devotionals for growing Christian marriages

These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. Please read one per day and meditate on how it applies to your marriage. (Note: if you are not certain you are a Christian, please read The Sinner’s Prayer)

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (Micah 6:8)

In marriage, it can be easy to get caught up in the daily grind and to neglect the things that truly matter. We might focus on our own needs and desires, rather than seeking to serve and love our spouse. However, Micah 6:8 reminds us of the things that God requires of us.

According to this verse, God requires us to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with Him. These three things form the foundation for a healthy and godly marriage. When we seek to do justice, we are seeking to act in ways that are fair and right. This might mean seeking to be understanding and patient with our spouse, even when they are not acting in ways that we would like.

When we love kindness, we are seeking to be kind and compassionate towards our spouse. This might mean looking for ways to serve and support them, even when we are feeling tired or overwhelmed.

Finally, when we walk humbly with God, we are seeking to submit ourselves to His will and to follow His guidance in our lives. This might mean seeking His wisdom and guidance as we navigate the challenges and joys of marriage.

So the next time you are feeling overwhelmed or unsure in your marriage, remember Micah 6:8 and the things that God requires of us. Seek to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with Him as you seek to love and serve your spouse.
