These daily marriage devotionals are compiled from verses that we have shared with Christian couples in many counseling sessions over many years. The Cross Proves the Father’s Care
When prayers appear unanswered, couples may begin to question God’s generosity. One withheld desire can fill the frame until the Father seems distant or reluctant, despite the countless mercies already given through Christ.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32 KJV)
The cross is the supreme evidence of God’s love. The Father who gave His Son will not abandon His children or withhold anything necessary for His saving purpose. His provision may differ from our preferences, but His care cannot be reasonably doubted.
When disappointment rises, look together toward Calvary. Thank God specifically for forgiveness, reconciliation, eternal life, the Holy Spirit, Scripture, and access to prayer. Then present your remaining need without accusing the Father of neglect.
Develop a “cross before circumstance” habit. Before interpreting God through a painful event, interpret the event through the demonstrated love of God in Christ. This keeps unanswered questions from erasing the clearest evidence of His goodness.
Prayer: Father, You did not spare Your own Son but gave Him for us. Help us measure Your love by the cross rather than by changing circumstances. Provide everything necessary for Your good purpose in our marriage. Amen.
You may not receive every preferred outcome, but you have received the Son. The God who gave Christ will continue providing grace, wisdom, strength, and every resource required for faithful obedience.
