God shall wipe away all tears

One of the most exciting Bible truths is we win in the end. Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death and he has given us the right to become his sons and daughters so we will reign with him forever. In the meantime, we will have tribulation, but don’t fear because he will wipe away all our tears. This is a consistent theme throughout the entire Bible.

A time of tears and tribulation in the world

The time of our sojourn on earth often has tears of pain and sorrow, tears of depression and hopelessness, and even tears of anger and frustration, but God was tempted in all things just like us. He relied on prayers to his heavenly father and comfort from angelic hosts. We can do the same thing.

I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 WEB)

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.  But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death

There is no king in story, myth, or legend like Jesus Christ. He is the almighty eternal, sovereign God, who created the universe to be inhabited, but he humbled himself and became as a man to die on the cross for our sins. Even the disciples who had been with him for 3 years of earthly ministry didn’t understand what has happening. But, just when the world and the devil thought he was the defeated, he conquered sin and 3 days later rose from the grave to conquer death. Now, he wants to be your personal savior and friend. He wants to give you the free gift of his life.

He hath swallowed up death for ever;  and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.  And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. (Isaiah 25:8-9 ERV)

Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompence of God; he will come and save you. Earthly tears wiped away by a loving father

We don’t get many glimpses of the eternal future. But these are particularly exciting because God promises to wipe away our tears forever.

One of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are arrayed in white robes, who are they, and from where did they come?” I told him, “My lord, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood. Therefore they are before the throne of God, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them.  They will never be hungry, neither thirsty any more; neither will the sun beat on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shepherds them, and leads them to springs of waters of life. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”  (Revelation 7:13-17 WEB)

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Everlasting tears for unbelievers

But don’t wait because the mercy of God will come to an end someday. Then there will be everlasting tears and worse than tears forever and ever…

He will say, “Cast up, cast up, prepare the way, take up the stumbling-block out of the way of my people.” For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite. For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls who I have made. For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him; I hid [my face] and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.
