“I hate all your show and pretense—
the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies.
I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings.
I won’t even notice all your choice peace offerings.
Away with your noisy hymns of praise!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living.
(Amos 5:21-24)
“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness. (Matthew 23:27-28)
Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead. (1 Timothy 4:1-2)
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. (1 John 2:15-17)
Solomon was inspired to give us some very specific training about what God hates…
There are six things the LORD hates—
no, seven things he detests:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.
(Proverbs 6:16-19)
For deeper study:
God has ordained music to praise him like this…
David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy. (1 Chronicles 15)

I don’t think the genre or the instrumentation or the melody affected this rejoicing. I pray that you will honestly serve God and praise him for his goodness with your music. If you do that, I don’t think the genre or the instrumentation or the lyrics or the melody will affect the message. If you do that, I will say, “God bless you,” even if I don’t understand the music.

The Unlikely Endurance of Christian Rock — The genre has been disdained by the church and mocked by secular culture. That just reassured practitioners that they were rebels on a righteous path. (THE NEW YORKER)

I hate when that happens. Not everybody shares your convictions. And, it sounds like your conscience is kicking in on this song. Please read: 8 Truths About the Conscience. God puts a very high priority on your conscience, he wants you to exercise it and use it to discern between good and evil. God wants you to learn to trust your conscience, he does not want you to ignore it or push through it.
When this happens, we are faced with a conundrum about what to do. Please read: Neither do I condemn thee and Turn the other cheek vs. gird on the sword.
I read the new article and i do agree with it for the most part, it sounds better to me, but i also believe that some music should also be used to express our feelings on other matters as well. Or use music as a HEALTHY emotional outlet. Using music to let angry emotions should be kept to ones self i suppose as well as to praise the Lord.
My favorite band is releasing a new album, and have released a song from it on youtube. I fear it has some unholy meanings in it. I’m going to look up the lyrics.
