The following verses are often used to support the doctrine of shunning by marking and avoiding people that you don’t agree with. In most cases, this is a terrible misuse of this power. However, there is a legitimate use of church discipline taught by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians for grievous sins that are bringing disrepute on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
