When Christ was on the Cross, You Were on His Mind

Yes, Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world, but more importantly Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross was for you personally. The Bible tells us in John 3:16 that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This means that Jesus died not just for a group of people but for every single person, including you.

From the very beginning, God has been calling each of us into a personal relationship with Him. In Genesis 3:9, God called out to Adam, saying, “Where are you?” This question wasn’t just for Adam—it shows God’s heart to reach out to every person. And thousands of years ago, David wrote, “The LORD is my shepherd.” This famous 23rd Psalm shows God’s personal relationship with each person.

Psalm 139 reminds us that God knew us individually even before we were born: “You knit me together in my mother’s womb… all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.” This shows he is caring and protecting in a personal way.

And Psalm 40 tells us how much God thinks about us. In verse 5, David wrote, “Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us—none can compare to You—if I proclaim and declare them, they are more than I can count.”

When Jesus came, He continued to show this personal love. In John 15:15, He said we are not merely servants, but friends. This highlights how much He values a personal relationship with you. Jesus also invited those who are weary to come to Him in Matthew 11:28, saying, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He cares about your struggles and longs to give you peace.

Jesus also taught us not to be afraid, because in Matthew 10:30-31, he said, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” That’s how much Jesus is concerned about each one of us.

John 14:1-4 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

That’s why the Bible tells us that Jesus died on the cross for you. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That means He wasn’t just thinking about humanity in general—He was thinking about you personally. Galatians 2:20 says, “The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” This makes it clear that Jesus’s sacrifice was personal.

Even more, 1 John 2:2 tells us Jesus is “the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” This includes everyone—past, present, and future. And yet, John 3:16 teaches us that God’s love is personal for each believer, promising eternal life to anyone who trusts in Him.

Finally, 1 John 4:19 explains, “We love Him because He first loved us,” and John 15:13 declares, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” That’s exactly what Jesus did on the cross.

In simple terms, Jesus Christ loved each of us before we were even born and willingly laid down His life for us individually. The only question is do you want a personal relationship with him?
