The ministry of reconciliation is the amazing message that God has already done the work through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to restore the relationship between you and God. The Bible says your sins and tresspasses have separated you from God. The penalty is death. But it has already been paid. Won’t you be reconciled to God?
For the love of Christ controls us, since we have concluded this, that Christ died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised. So then from now on we acknowledge no one from an outward human point of view. Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, now we do not know him in that way any longer. So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come! And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation. In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:14-19 NET)
How great the chasm
That lay between us
How high the mountain
I could not climb
In desperation
I turn to heaven
And spoke Your name

I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way

All this is God’s doing, for he has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ; and he has made us agents of the reconciliation. God was in Christ personally reconciling the world to himself—not counting their sins against them—and has commissioned us with the message of reconciliation. We are now Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were appealing direct to you through us. As his personal representatives we say, “Make your peace with God.” For God caused Christ, who himself knew nothing of sin, actually to be sin for our sakes, so that in Christ we might be made good with the goodness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:18-21 PHILLIPS)
The word reconciliation is a legal financial term that means making the accounts balance. Consider the case where you haven’t paid your taxes in many years and the IRS is after you. They know everything about you: where you work, bank, and live. They will relentlessly pursue you through bankruptcy, marriage, divorce, powers of attorney, living wills, family trusts, and even pursue your estate after your death. Until they get their last penney.
Your sins are worse than that. Much worse! But they can be reconciled instantly if you will admit you are a sinner and need a savior.
